Further to archived thread thread605-867916 .
Periodically over the last few months I (and other Outlook users) receive "cannot connect" messages with error number 0x800ccc0e when trying to send via SMTP, despite the same configuration having worked quite happily for many weeks beforehand. Incoming mails from the same host using the same Outlook account appear to be unaffected. Other Outlook accounts on the same client using the same SMTP service still work quite happily.
We are able to work around the problem each time by deleting and then recreating the offending account. Simply opening and updating the account is not sufficient.
I have no idea why Outlook works this way (I'm on Outlook 2000 SR1) but the symptoms are an exact mirror of the last contribution to the thread (an Outlook Express user).
This thread merely added merely as a tip, but if anyone is able to advise how we can stop this happening, I'd be interested and grateful.
