I think it is going to take me a while to understand the nature of the aix error messages (any simple way of learning?), I received this from an old server which will be used for building standby database;

This Failure comes almoust when no Graphical Screen is attached to the Graphic Adapter on Startup

I dont understand, there is a monitor attached to the server - is it possible that the cable may be a bit lose?

Usually caused by having devices.graphics.com installed when you don't have a graphics console but an ascii console.

Fix:

rmdev -dl rcm0
rmdev -dl gxme0
installp -ug devices.graphics.com
reboot
