error message

ok, I'll admit it, I'm not a tech person. don't shoot. I keep getting this message:

SymantecNetDetect:NDETECT.EXE- Application error
The instruction at “0x77f88a87: referred memory of “0x00000018”. The memory could not be “read”

After clicking the OK button, I got second message which was the same except the title which read:
OleMainThreadWndName:Lucoms~1EXE – Application error.

I've searched for this on Google and only found Polish links and one link to tek-tips, which is where I learned about Tek-Tips. But I could not find the link, which was listed as:

... nearly everyday i get a error that says: MCUPDATE.EXE - Application Error "0x77f88a87"
