I am fairly new to Access and have been trying to load a file. I keep getting the following error message:

The Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the object ". Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name and the path name correctly.

The file is tab-delimited and approx. 1.061MB. When attempting to load the file, I've tried all 2 methods of indexing -- No or Yes (Duplicates OK).

Any thoughts as to what might be preventing this file from loading?

Please post the code you are using to import, including the name of the file, if possible.

To my knowledge, I am not using any code to load (rather import) the file.

Under the File menu option, I select Get External Data, then Import. Then, I follow the steps inside the Import Text Wizard. The filename is a mix of alphanumeric characters without any spaces (e.g. abcd123456p.txt).

Have you tried importing a small section of the file? Is the file path very long? I ask these questions to narrow down the possibilities, for example, long paths have been known to cause problems.

Try shorting the file name to 8 alpha characters or less (no numeric).
