Hi,

I hope I am in the right forum. If I am not, please accept my apologies.

We are using a software tool that generates an interface that sits in front of an Access Database. We can get the interface to work with some of the computers in the office and not others.

With the ones that do not work, we get the following message:
"ConnectUserDB cannot be found. It may not be properly installed". If we say OK at the prompt we get a second message saying "DisconnectUserDB operation not allowed when object is closed".

Some of the machines used to have Office 97 before they were upgraded to 2000 and others only had office 2000 installed.

Does anybody have any idea as to where the problem comes from? My initial feeling was that the program does not work properly with office 2000 and requires files that exist in 97.

Any help would be appreciated.

This can be one possibility. Access 97 came with a default reference of microSoft DAO 3.5 or 3.51 depening on the release then later added a downloadable 3.6 and 4.0. Any ways these are Data Access Objects and was the default dtatbase connection on Access 95 and Access 97 in Access 2000 the default Database Connection is ADO which uses different connection procedure than the DAO. And this could be your problem. What you can do is go into your Access database and go to the module section then click new. This will Open the VBE(Visual Basic Editor)on the menu bar go to tools then to references Scroll down the box until you come Across the MicroSoft DAO 3.X or later Then use the Priority buttons to place it BEFORE the Active X Data Objects. IT Must Go Before The Active X Data Objects or yopu will still get errors. Like I said I am not sure if this will resolve your problem. But it won't hurt to try this sense you have it working on 97 and not 2000

Good Luck

Thanks,

I have since found out that my problem comes from JEt Engine 3.5 not being installed in most of our machines. Only 4.0 is installed. Some machines have both Jet Engines installed.

The application I was trying to use requires 3.5.

Is there an easy way of installing Jet 3.5 so that both work on the Windows 2000 machines.

It should be on your office cd The File is called msjet35.dll and it needs to go into your C:\Windows\System directory. I am not sure about the registry and I did not see it in mine.

Thanks for your help. We have now found a way of installing Jet 3.51.
