After a necessary reinstall of Windows 95 I now get the following error message on boot up. Has the windows icon and then "Loadwc" followed by the big red X of death with this message "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down." It does not shut down, of course, and if I close the window everything continues with no further problems. I'd like to get rid of this irritating occurence. The details says: "caused an exception c06d007fh in module Kernel 32.DLL at 0137:bff9a07c. Can anyone help?

If you are running version 4 of IE, I would suggest you upgrade to IE5.5 with Service Pack 2. Here's a link:
IE 5.5 Service Patch 2 has been released, available from WindowsUpdate or here:

Backup the registry and/or export the following keys before making any changes.

navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and delete the loadwc entry.

The entry, I believe say "Load Webcheck"
