Hi,

When attempting to label a file, I get the error message "File or project not found".

Clicking OK then generates the error message "The labels.ini file could not be properly updated".

I have run Analyze.exe on the database in an attempt to fix any errors, but the same error message still appears afterwards.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

Thanks in advance

Rich

We are having the same problem, and wonder if you or anyone else have figured out the solution. Thanks.

We are also having the same problem. I only get that message when trying to label an individual file. I can label an entire project with no problem....

In SourceSafe 6, I found the labels in the \Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\data\labels folder. There is a file for each label. In my case, the file contains the name of the project (since I labeled the entire project), and the names of the individual items if they were labeled individually. I also found a deleted project in this file. I deleted the project name, along with the next line (which is the time that the label was assigned). I no longer get the offending message.

I did back up the data folder before attempting this. I am not able to figure out why the deleted project is in the label's file.
