I am running Windows XP Pro SP2 on HP Compaq 7600 and while having training using Livemeeting the system shutdown and the blue screen with the following information has been displayed:
"A Problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your PC.
KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware manufacture for any windows updates you might need.

If problem continues, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.

If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advance Startup Options, and then select Safe mode.

Technical Information:

*** Stop:0x0000007A (0xc0556310, 0xc0000006, 0xAAC62A13, 0x07704860)

*** portcls.sys Address AAC62A13 base AT AAC48000

Any help and suggestions would be appreciated. One more comment. This is the second time I received the same error. The first time I restrted the computer and it was fine for about 2 weeks before the same error occured.

Thank you,
Alex

Hi!
It means that the kernel data from the paging file could not be read into memory. Possible causes include defective hardware, failing RAM, or a possible virus. I'd check the RAM first, then the hardrive for bad sectors. Assuming you have up to date virus protection...I'd check that last.

Portcls.sys error

Your problem may be linked to a Sound driver?

"This problem occurs because a race condition exists in the Portcls.sys driver. This driver is a Windows Audio Class driver".

Sounds do not play after you resume Windows from hibernation on a computer that is running Windows XP Service Pack 2
