This message is occuring when I try to send an excel file as an email attachment when I am viewing a report.

I created a group call "SalesRep" and gave it certain permissions. When I create a "Delivery Report" and then click my right mouse button and choose < send to > then <mail recipient> then < excel format > the following message appears:

-------------------------------------------------------
Database can’t retrieve the value of this property.

The property isn’t available from the view in which you are running the macro or visual basic code, or the database encountered a an error while retrieving the value of the property.

To see the valid settings for this property, search the help index for the name of the property.
--------------------------------------------------------

When I log on NOT as a SalesRep everything works fine. What is happening here.

Thanks.

I know this is going to sound weird but do you have full priviledges on a clean run and salesperson priviledges on a failed run if that is the case either look to your security or set any queries that source the report to run with owner access option (admin rights for just the query).

check this as a first step and I'll try again if it still fails.

JoAnne,

Thanks for responding.

I tried what you said. I when into permission for the group called "SalesRep" and I checked Administer in the queries as well as the reports. Still no luck.

I then changed the owner of the queries to the group called "SalesRep", still no luck.

ps. I do have full priviledges when I run the <send to> function.

Any Ideas?

Steve

Oops

Sorry big time - You don't have to change any permissions in security to grant owner access.

it can be done in the query itself
put your cursor in the top grey area, right click, select properties

6th one down is Run Permissions here you have the option
users/owners

thats what I meant then. Any way back to the problem in hand

my next suggestion is to ensure you have read permissions any tables sourcing the report.

additionally if you are creating tables to produce the final data set check create permissions

Finall please assure me that you took a copy of your pristine .mdw ( no security applied) if you didn't and find yourself in dire straights let me know and I will mail you a clean one back ( with version of access of course)

Access security is a well known mud puddle so grab you wellies & don't give up.

I tried your suggestion with the permissions to "owners"

No such luck.

does sales rep need to have design rights for that report

The property isn’t available from the view in which you are running the macro or visual basic code, or the database encountered a an error while retrieving the value of the property.

this seems to indicate that you are trying to access a property - (which one by the way?) in your macro/vba

I am a little puzzled now

regards

jo

Jo,

I gave design rights on the reports to the SalesRep Group. Again no luck. However, this time I do not get the error message. It seems as if the program is trying to create the excel file and open the email window, but nothing happens.

Any other ideas?

Steve

Ps. sorry for the delay, I've been out of the office.
