Hi

I was trying to execute a program on Windows 2000 and got the following error message in a pop up window:

The dynamic link library MFC42D.DLL could not be found in the specified path
A:\; C:\WINNT\System32;\..................keeps going on

I did a help search for MFC42D.DLL and found nothing. The program executes on my home computer where I’m running Visual Studio 6.0 Standard edition on Windows 98. Any suggestions?

It sounds like you've tried running the "debug" version of the program on the other machine. Try running the "release" version. Otherwise, install VC++ on the other machine to get all the required debug DLLs

Thanks,

I copied the _.exe file from the DEBUG folder. I don't have the other computer with VC 6.0 in front of me but I assume the RELEASE folder will be in the project.

Yes but only if you've actually "built" a release version. If not, look under your "build" menu and go down to "set active configuration". Choose the "release" build and build it. Then you'll have a "Release" folder in the project folder.

Hi Gednick,

Thanks for the help. I'll try that when I get home from work.
