error message during reload

During reload of O/S error message appears and i am unsure of what the error is pointing me too as the problem.
Reads as Follows:
Preparing disk SEAGATE ST3215N at 0 6 1
making file system
wtfs:i/o error
/etc/mkfs /ram/dev/rdsk/dest 1697280 32 16 8192 1024 16 10 60 2048 failed with status 256

probably due to invalid parameters being set in file system menu.
the install process has been aborted,press (return) to reboot----end of error message

hi,

you probably have some kind of hardware error, looks like the disk you are using to create the root filesystems on may be dodgey .

Have you got another disk you can try your install.

Check other h/w on your server to see if everything is functioning correctly.
