Error Message counts won't reset 1

Has anyone ever seen a problem when you reset the error message counts, they don't reset? In this same area, in the columns that show the numbers of errors on each of the site servers, it is reporting an incorrect number of errors. This has gone on for several months, and I am not able to find ANYTHING about this. Any suggestions?
 
Do you have the specific right of resetting the counters ?

I used to be able to when we first deployed it. However, changes could have been made by someone else. Do you know exactly where to set that? I have looked in the "manage sms users" section, but don't see it.
 
Open up the SMS-AdminConsole and navigate to Sita Database / Security Rights.
There look for your Name or the Group you are in and check your rights for Status Message. Iy you have the rights "Read, Administer, Create, Delete" then you should be able to reset the counter(s).

Thanks for all of the helpful information. I have checked this area, and I have full rights to everything. I don't get an error or anything, it just doesn't reset the number of errors. When you choose "show all messages (error, info, warning), there aren't any there, but the overview screen shows there are.
 
I found something interesting, under "site status", if I right click our primary site, and choose "show all messages", I see hundreds of messages that do not show up when I look at the messages individually under "Component Status" and "Site System Status". I am going to delete all of these and see if I can get the counts to reset, and start with a clean slate. Thanks for all of your helpful input!
