Error message Backup AIX 4 with tar

Hi,

since a few days I get the following error message:

/windows/export/mis/hcsdb.dbs/mis_v00106.dat is not of the expected file size

My cron:
00 3 * * 1,2,3,4,5,6 /bin/tar -cf /dev/rmt0 /u1a /users /home /u9a /windows /tm
/sichdate 1>/dev/null 2>/bin2/sich_err; /bin2/sich_write

Does it mean that the file is to big for tar?

And what's the size of the file?

Could mean that the file is growing as tar is trying to back it up. File grows between time tar starts with the file and the time tar reads end-of-file... Which tar probably can't handle.

for 5.1 the "tar limit" might be 2GiB ("enforeced" in  the tar header), on 5.2 it's up to 8 GiB/archived file
