Hi,

I've got an issue with an XP client logging on to a single server Windows 2003 domain. The domain controller is called lothdc1.

One client is experiencing problems logging on. I think others have been affected intermittently too, but only one user is complaining about it at present.

The error message she receives is:-

Windows cannot copy file \\lothdc1\profiles\sstephens\My Documents\My Scans\hppscan4.pdf to location C:\Documents and Settings\sstephens\My Documents\My Scans\hppscan4.pdf. Possible causes of this error include network problems or insufficient security rights. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.

DETAIL - Error performing inpage operation.

I have tried numerous things. The last thing I tried was setting the speed of the nic in the PC to 10mbps duplex. After I changed this the client logged in OK.

Any idea why, or was it just pure coincidence?

Thanks for your help, and I apologise if I've posted in the wrong forum.

Cheers,
Toby

I'd make sure her username has complete FULL access to her profile (\\lothdc1\profiles\sstephens). Also, if there's an antivirus running on the server, may want to disable once and have her logon and see what happens.

Thx for the response.

I checked the permissions on her profile directory and ensured she had modify permissions throughout (I don't want to give people the option of removing the administrator from the folder permissions).

I haven't tried disabling the AV software, that might be worth a go.

I'd consider give her FULL control of her own profile just for testing matters.. All of my users have full control all the time to their profile folders simply to avoid these annoying sporadic messages when signing on.

Snoot - I don't think it's a permissions issue. I made that user a domain admin and they still experienced the same problem. It was only when I changed the speed of the NIC that she managed to log in without any error messages.
