I get an error message "error loading Explorer.exe you must reinstall windows,"when booting up my computer. At this point the only option is to click the "ok" button which immediately displays the shut down message "it's now safe to turn off your computer." Each time I try to boot up I get the same results.

What steps do I take to get windows reinstalled from my windows cd disk?

Thanks

Before rushing into a reinstall try restoring the registry. Boot into "Command Prompt Only" by pressing the F8 key just before Windows tries to load then type "scanreg /restore" without the quotes and hit enter. Note the space between scanreg and /.
This will give you the chance to select an ealier date to restore your sytem to, select a date when you know it was working ok and follow the prompts. If this does not work post back and we can talk about a reinstall. Help us to help you, please post back and tell us if this helped.
