error loading drivers

Hello folks

Few days ago I lost connectivity to a machine on a different subnet. Ping times out but the machine is running and I can get to it from other machines that are on the same subnet. I have tried flushing, renewing, and releasing DNS entries and reconfiguring the route and gateway entries but to no avail. When I run ifconfig -a on the machine, I get the following:

0821-515 ifconfig: error loading /usr/lib/drivers/if_/ò.­/ò.¾/ò.Í/ò.â/usr/lib/drivers/if_/ò.­/ò: A file or directory in the path name does not exist.

All others nodes in the same subnet are able to conncet to this node without any problems. From my desktop, I am also able to connect to all other nodes in that subnet without a problem. The node is in my /etc/hosts file.

If you have come across this type of problem before, I would appreciate your help.

not only the specials char >127: ò.­/ò.¾/ò.Í/ò.
but the duplicate string: /usr/lib/drivers/if_
is allarming.
have you special chars in filename? spaces, newlines, &...
post a: find /usr/lib/drivers -ls

Do I have special characters in which file? Basically I only use telnet so nothing unusual has changed. The other thing is that even the Legato processes that run on the same node were complaining about "Unknown host" and yet the /etc/hosts file looks fine and, as I said, all other nodes in that subnet are ok
