error launching browser when using check for updates

any app in office 2003 gives me this error.

i goto help tab > check for updates

also if i click on any link on right hand side of screen for office help nothing happens. uninstalled and reinstalled office 2003 as well as internet explorer. what is wrong with microsoft this time. thanks,

Did you verify that IE is your default browser and it's working properly (I assume it is since you posted here). Other than that try running Detect and Repair from the Help menu in one of the Office applications.

yep ie is default browser

issue was with traces of fire fox still on machine. installed firefox again and uninstalled it and all is well. thanks for your input
