Error Job

Hi Mine backup is presenting the following problem:

W3501 Unable to add job to database. (ESC=-2005)


Somebody can help me?

This problem sometimes happened because of the database get corruption

What the size of your database folder? (check the path where you installed Arcserve you see a folder called database)

you need to run dbcheck & dbfix utilities to check and fix this problem

As I mentioned above you need to run dbcheck & dbfix as explianed in above link.

dbcheck -a -L arcserve;admin;secret asjob
dbcheck -a -L arcserve;admin;secret asmedia
dbcheck -a -L arcserve;admin;secret asobject
dbcheck -a -L arcserve;admin;secret asrhost
dbcheck -a -L arcserve;admin;secret astape
dbcheck -a -L arcserve;admin;secret astpdrv
dbcheck -a -L arcserve;admin;secret astpsdat

This section will repair each database as needed
dbfix -a -L arcserve;admin;secret asjob
dbfix -a -L arcserve;admin;secret asmedia
dbfix -a -L arcserve;admin;secret asobject
dbfix -a -L arcserve;admin;secret asrhost
dbfix -a -L arcserve;admin;secret astape
dbfix -a -L arcserve;admin;secret astpdrv
dbfix -a -L arcserve;admin;secret astpsdat


Noteatabase Engine has to be running before you issue the above

Better to put the above in a batch file

Quick solution is to Inisilize the database but you loss all the media pool and tape information.
whenever you want to restore from a tape which has been done before the inisilization you need to merge it to the database.

The 2005 error happens when the connection to the database can not be made. Try restarting the Database Engine.
