Error: Inventory's "On" Hand is "Off"

I back up my inventory weekly. For year end, I used this back up to do my reconciliation. However some of the items' on hand is incorrect. I verified with the history of items and it is really off.
First I thought it was the DTS in SQL, but all it's doing is taking a snapshot of the tables.
Second, the funny thing is that only one site is incorrect. It's all from one IV table, so shouldn't it cause the others to be off also?
Then I looked at the back up of the following week and it looks like this one is back on track.
Now, what do you think might have caused this? Can it be a "hung" posting? Maybe a date (2005 going to 2006) prob?
Any help would be appreciated.

run a reconcile prior to your export. Basically a reconcile goes through every transaction on inventory and recalculates what inventory should be.

You may gain some clues on what's happening via the report that spits out at the end of the reconcile.
