Hi....

I receive this error when trying to upgrade/patch my Paint Shop Pro 9. I bought it when it first came out...boxed with a book. I am a registered user. I don't understand this error at all.

"The file c:\programFiles\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 9 igcore13d.dll is not a valid previous version and could not be upgraded."

The file name is psp901enp.exe.

I would appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks!

I have had the same error applying the PSP 9.01 update.

It may help to know that I already have version 9.01, as indicated by Help, About. It is not clear whether patch psp901enp.exe creates 9.01 from 9.0 or merely changes 9.01. I would guess the former, because the Corel support site shows "No downloads" available for version 9.01.

Nevertheless, when I double-click a .jpg file in Windows Explorer or Explorer Plus, it brings up PSP9.01 but CANNOT load the file that I clicked. Hence, I seem to need a patch to fix 9.01, even though the above-named patch was said to fix that bug.

I had the same problem and wrote Corel/Paint Shop Pro's tech help. Their reply was simple: uninstall PSP 9 and reinstall, then do update. I did so, installing the big update first after a new installation, then the smaller one. Worked fine.

If you uninstall, don't forget to save any customizations first, as I did.

TY so much for this information, jptex....
I have done as you suggested and it worked
