I've installed Norton Anti-virus successfully on 11 of our 12 computers all similarly configured with Windows 98. On the one problem installation I receive the following message after the final reboot at the end of the installation process: "Norton Antivirus was unable to start Email Protection". I have tried installing (which requires an uninstall each time) about 9 times, each ending up with the same message. Each time I tried something a little different. Ultimately I uninstalled all non-essential programs on this computer thinking there might be a conflict. Didn't work. I have a sister computer purchased same time with same configuration and it had no such problem. All of the 12 computers are running same basic apps: Word 97, Excel 97, Outlook 98(corporate) and Quickbooks Pro 2001. My next thought is to reinstall Outlook as I'm not sure what else to try. Has anyone encountered this and/or does anyone have any suggestions?
