Hi, I have just set up Mdaemon on a new server (windows 2003). It isn't picking up emails and Mdaemon is displaying the following message:

Wed 2004-10-13 10:01:49: [INIT] Initializing SMTP services for mywebsitedomain.com using 217.199.168.85:25
Wed 2004-10-13 10:01:49: [INIT] Socket Error: Winsock Error 10013 Permission denied.
Wed 2004-10-13 10:01:49: [INIT] **WARNING** mywebsitedomain.com 217.199.168.85:25 could not be initialized.

What is wrong?

I really appreciate any help.

transparent,

Although I don't know all the details of your configuration.. i think a good start is to look at the user permissions that have been set to the mdeamon service...

But, my guess is you have already been down that ovbious road.. there is a possibility that something is using port 25. Do a "netstat -o" in a command prompt to detemine if a service is keeping that port open.

Even further, you may be looking at corruption/incorrect .dlls or other softwarte conflicts?

Hope this helps, let me know if it you found an answer..

Thanks,
Kevin

I agree with kcostain, check to see if anything else is using port 25 (SMTP in IIS perhaps?). Only one server can hold a particular port open. Also, what permissions is the MDaemon service running under? The default is local system but if you changed it to another account make sure it has proper access to all of the folders and files that it needs to run.
