Error in Update Services Console

Here's the error I'm getting when going through the Server Management tool and clicking on Update Services. I have WSUS 3.0 installed on SBS 2003 that has SP2 installed as well.

I am NOT getting any error when opening the WSUS Console ("C:\Program Files\Update Services\administrationsnapin\wsus.msc") and computers are reporting in, synchronizations are happening and computers are obeying orders to install approved updates.

I'm really confused. Are there two different update services on my system and one of them is broken or is it just a link to the one update service that is not functioning in Server Management console.

Thanks for any insight into fixing this issue or telling me to just ignore it if the other WSUS management tool is sufficient and functioning.

Okay, I following the instructions and no change - still getting the error. BUT two things of note:

1. The output log showed the following which is NOT what was expected

Changed database context to 'SUSDB'.
Using SUSDB
No work to do. Record already exists.

2. The path to the executable was different than what was in that document. My path was:
c:\program files%\update services\setup\executesql.exe

So, "common files" was NOT part of the path for me.


Don't know if either of these shed any light. Any more advice appreciated.
