error in KERNEL 32 when ICQ installed in ME

When icq 2000b is installed in my ME, it operates OK but I get a barrarge of other faults and lock ups the most frequent of these is( ADSUB caused error in KERNEL 32 )
When icq uninstalled errors go with it.
op syst:
ME
Athlon 1000
40gig HDD
384 Meg RAM
other software (major) lotus fast suite, office 97, MSN messenger,norton,ZA pro,ACDsee,photoshop 5,napster and some others i don`t know how relevant.
