Can somone out please help me. When user logged on to citrix it sometimes kick them off for no reason. I looked in the eventviewer and saw this error. "THE CDM REDIRECTOR HAS TIMED OUT A REQUEST TO SESSION ID #". Or I used to see something like this as well "A RDR write-behind operation has failed to the remote server. The data contains the amount requested to write and the amount actually written". I stopped getting the second error afer moving the PDC on the same switch that the CITRIX SERVER are on.

Please someone help this is an emergency it is distrupting the worker.

Thanks

No we do not have any printers installed on this servers yet.

What Service packs/hotfixes/clients/Operating systems are you running?

Does this also happen with the Terminal Server client? It sounds like an IP timeout rather than an ICA specific issue.

Hope this helps

The terminal server has service pack 6, MetaFrame has service pack 2 and the latest hotfixes. I am not disagreeing with you on the issue of IP timeout.

There is a document on the Ciitrix site that tells you how to increase the time out limit in TCP/IP. I can't remember the document name, but search the Citrix Knowledge Base.

Just a thought - the message would seem to indicate that something is attempting a write to a location on a remote server. That write is not happening - whether it's time constrained or permission-related is not clear.

Maybe this is something to do with a client attempting to map a network drive to which they have no rights?

Hope this helps

We are also having this problem, it first started after we install service pack 2. What we also find is the Terminal Server itsself basically stops for around 10 minutes, nothing happens even on the server desktop. The users now know that it more often than not starts responding again so they go off and have coffee. It normally happens late in the day as people start logging off the system. We have even identified certain people that cause the problem when they log off.

We didn't have the problem until we load the hot fixes after service pack 2, we now have 3 loaded and its still doing it. We loaded the hot fixes to solve a printing problem with some big Toshiba Copier / Printer, it solved that problem but we have a worse problem now.

If any one knows the answer, please let me know.

Thanks

Have you guys tried updating the client? Just a thought....I know they released a new 32 bit client recently....

For 2a... I believe that the CDM timeout is just a symptom of your real problem and does not point to the cause. In other words, the timeout occurs as a result of the session disconnect. Remember, CDM is Client Drive Mapping. So, do not waste your time chasing this error. Check this article Citrix "CDM Redirector Timeout Event ID 70 in MetaFrame 1.8"
Document ID: CTX207308

Question: How soon after connection does user get dropped? Does this apply to all users? or only some? What type of physical connection does the user have; direct LAN, dial-up, etc.? What is the clients OS? All these questions need to be answered before anyone can help.
Sorry, I have nothing better to offer you right now.

Peter3152... Have you tried running perfmon against the processes of the user that you have identified? Or have you run filemon to monitor file activity? You may consider NOT mapping any client devices; drives, printers, etc as a test for the users that you identified as a cause. See what happens. -- Devil Dog --

Thanks you all for all your responses. However, this problems has stopped for some unknown reason. i haven't done anything differently, but the appilcation has been reconfigured.

I am sure I'll be talking to you guys later on.

Thanks again
