Does anyone know what this error means?

"Error getting data while updating or refreshing. "

I have a listbox which is databound to a Lotus Notes database. I have inserted a null value into the first slot in the listbox (so that the page initialises to null without selecting a record). But when i select the first value in the list (after the null value), I get the above error, and i can't find it in MSDN or on the Microsoft support site. Can anyone help? [sig][/sig]
