Hi!
I have a client with an old P-Series 7028-6C4 running AIX 5.1 that crashed and was hard-reset. However it won't boot, and has the dreaded 0517 error.
I booted from a 5.1 ML3 CD (the same as on the host) and entered the recovery shell, fsck'd the rootvg LV's, did the logform stuff, the IPL file business, and didn't really get anywhere. Though I briefly managed an 0518 error (!). I've even hand-crafted a simple /etc/filesystems
I haven't though been able to be able to exit from the Recovery Shell, to have the rootvg volumes mount automatically.
At present I get this scrolling at high speed to infinity on the console;
"Could not load dependent module libc.a (shr.o)"Whereupon after powering off I will boot to 0517 again.
Can anyone assist with the significance of this error message or any other 'cunning' schemes to get over 0517? A debug boot isn't too easy.
