I think I may have a Database issue now. I have done 2 more full backups and both have hung on 99%. The only error I see is:

E8602 Failed to read from database (DBNAME=individual mailboxes\usename\inbox EC=backup agent error (359) Failed to read data block for attachment.

Any ideas???

The error is an exchange database issue. Does this happen thoughout the backup on every individual mailbox? or just one or two? It may be some curruption of the mailboxes within exchange. Try an isinteg, edbutil, etc....

By the way is this ARCserve 2000 or 6.61?

If you have any exchange antivirus running, disable it and try a backup again.

It is arcserve 2000. I have run the full backup a couple time and each time it hangs at the 99% point, however it is stopped on a different mailbox each time, once in one person's inbox, the next in another user's sent folder and so on. So I tend to believe it is not an exchange problem. Mail has been working fine. Also I have been running the full backup fine for a number of months. this just came out of no where. Also no virus running on the mailboxes. So if it is an exchange database corruption, how would I go about resolving it? Any ideas?

Well, the key word is random... Hence I don't think it is a corruption. The next thing would have been any exchange anti-virus, but you said there is no exchange antivirus running on the database, so..... hmmmmm Are you absolutely positive it is random!!!! there could be a few corrupt mailboxes.

If they are corrupt, it is easy to fix up, just run those utilities, or even easier, export the mailbox to pst, delete and then recreate the mailbox, then initialise and import the pst back to it.

If you are running an anti-virus on the FILE SYSTEM, please set it to incoming only (on the realtime monitor). This could be a cause.

Anyway, happy backing up :) oh and new year
