Error E3511 EC=-1 unable to begin DB backup (EC=-1)

Arcserve 6.5 build 622, NT4 using std Raima DB.
running 2 jobs with tape library option has started to
fail to back up database with subject error on first job, but second job backs DB up okay, Any thoughts would be welcome

Job 2 is adding to the database at the same time Job 1 is trying to back it up so getting conflict errors. Take the 'Always backup Arcserve Database' option away from Job 1 and Job 2 will be able to back it up with no problems.
