Version: ARCserve 2000 Advanced Edition - ARCserve 2000
Standard install, no patches, or upgrades made
OS: Win 2000 SP1
Issue: Backing up Fileserver

Certain sharded folders on our network are having issues getting backed up (Including my own). I am getting Error - E3406 on all of these files. I have checked the rights on the folders and the user password that ARCserve is using has "Full Control" on all the folders and subfolders, so access rights is not the issue.

Last night I made sure to completely shut down my computer to eliminate the possibility of the Open File issue. Again this morning the backup "Unable to read file - E3406".

Is anyone familiar with, or can offer some advice as to what else I should be looking at?

Hello,

Running Arcserve without patches just is not done.

You need all of the following patches that apply for your environment. Read each patch summary page CAREFULLY. Pay attention to the OPTIONS you are using and the Arcserve LEVEL (Workgroup vs. Advanced vs. ASO)

Also, you must install software according to procedure.

These tech docs should also be referenced as not all 6.61 tech docs have been updated in the 2000 URL link yet, but they apply just the same.

Let me know if I can help more.
