I get an aplication error message each 5 minutes, Event:1000, Source:userenv, saying WINDOWS CANNOT OBTAIN THE DOMAIN COTROLLER NAME FOR YOUR COMPUTER NETWORK. RETURN VALUE (59).

I have a win2k server in a sigle domain and it is a DHCP, DNS, WINS and VPN server too.

Everything looks work fine, but the VPN clients access to hosts in the LAN doesn't work. Maybe because that Error.

It had roughly the same problem. Every 5 minutes an userenv error was written to my event log. The problem is a wrong record in your DNS. If your server has an static IP try pinging it on IP, which goes fine and then ping it by name. You probably get another IP assigned to this name. This is because name lookup goes:
- Host file
- Lmhost
- DNS
- Broadcast
The fix is rather simply.
run: ipconfig /flushdns. This clears all the DNS records every where. Also the wrong ones.
