This may be a little long winded so I'll condense as much as possible.
1. We have now installed a card reader on one of our student dorms and the associated software on my machine.
2. I have worked in MSAccess for almost 15 years but this new software uses SQL Server 2000.
3. The reports for this software are already built in Crystal Reports which is installed on my machine, but when I click on the preview button on one of the Forms, I get the error message listed in my subject line.
4. I have all the permissions that I need as far as I know. We own the software and everything I'm trying to do is part of the package.
5. I can go to the Report Template folder and open the reports, but they only open in design view.
6. If I try and use the Crystal Report "Report Expert", I get a prompt (after I've clicked thru the wizard) to select a data source. I select the db, enter the UserID and Pwd and the report opens but usually with no data (that could be because there is no data).
7. I created my own report that has data and can be opened by double clicking on the file name in the Reports Template folder but when I added this report to the list on the Form and tried to run it from there, I got the same error as with the other reports.
8. When I check the properties for these reports, they all appear as Crystal Report types.
Anybody know what I'm up against here or why I would get this type of error message. I called tech support and they told me they would have someone here to look at it (the problem)and do software training and all that on the 21st, but I'm not that patient (plus I don't think they can solve the problem either). I want to be as familiar with the whole system as I can by then so I can ask reasonably intelligent questions (plus I hate it when something isn't working---I know, obsessive)
Thanks
Paul
