One of my users receives a strange error when he attempts to open on of his access databases. The exact error is:

"The Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the object MSysDb. Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name and the path correctly."

This error message started after access locked-up while the database was open. The database has many tables and is linked to several tables in other databases.

Any information would be extremely help full.

Access contains a number of MSys tables. The message is pretty clear. A table that Access expects to find has been corrupted or deleted.

Try running the Database compaction and repair utility. If this doen't help then I hope that you have a backup copy to restore your users DB with.

The MSys tables are created by Access and are Read Only. I have never tried it but I supect you will not be able to create a replacement manually.

Thanks for the help. Its a good thing I have a backup, because the compact and repair did not work.
