Hi,
I installed Crystal Report 8.5 for a user on a Window's 95 machine (long story). The user was able to access the SQL 2000 database and create reports without a problem for about a week. Then yesterday, when she went to the database linking expert to add a table to an existing report, she clicked favorites (where it was loaded) and just got "no items found". I checked the ODBC connections and even made her a new one, but she still wasn't able to click the database and have the available tables drop down for selecting.

The unusual thing is she can still refresh the existing report without any problems. I installed MDAC 2.6 hoping this would help, but it didn't. Any ideas how to fix? Thanks.

It sounds like the type of data objects to display in the Options of the Data Explorer (Tables/Views/SPs, etc.) has been changed, make sure that Tables are selected.

Otherwise it's probably the connection or permissioning on the database.

Hi,
Thanks for your info. Yes, I checked the Data Explorer to make sure that tables etc. were checked. I even created a new OLEDB data source. It allowed me to create it and it tested successfully. However, when I go to open it, I still keep getting the message "No Items found".

So I'm still stuck.

Hey Don,

What did she do to break the pattern on the night of the 16th or early on the 17th?

To me, it looks as if she might not as rebooted her machine for a week, up until the 17th. Rebooting the machine would clear out the Favourites.

If she goes through the ODBC folder to find the datasource without going through Favourites, does it show up? If so, add it to Favourites through here.

Otherwise, if she's restarted her machine, and is trying to see Stored Procedures as opposed to Tables or Views, check that in File/Options/Database the Show: Stored Procedures option is checked on. If it isn't, stored procedures will not show up in the datasource list.
