Hmm, Can you supply some more information to this? What are you trying to backup? What does the daemon log file say?
It might be a faulty nsr.res file. If your installation isn't to complex try reconfigure clients, pools and groups.
Another thing to check is the backup command filed and file if you're running Oracle online backups.
