Error Code C057 Database Maintenance

Our backup failed and locked the server. After several attempts to down the server, we did a cold boot of the server. When the server was restored, one users email account will not let him login in. It returns the error code C057 database maintenance running, there is no maintenance running. In reading other tech notes, we have tried the approach of moving the outbound messages to a temp folder and still no luck. We have verified that the backup software is not locking the maintenance file either.

Any suggestions other than rebuild / renaming this user.

Have you done a "Check File Open/Lock activity" to see if any other process might have the file locked? If there is no database maintenance routine running on this user, the only other thing that I could think of would be something has the database locked. But generally just bouncing the server should release it.
