Error code 630 with infrared modem

Hi,

I'm using a Nokia 8310 as a modem on the infrared port of a laptop running win98 SE.
Sometimes it works great but sometimes I get error code 630 telling me that the modem is not found. However I can see that the infrared connection between my modem and my laptop is active.

Does anyone know what the problem is and how to solve it?

Not exactly sure but have you double checked your tcp/ip settings and your dial connection settings.
Also jot down the exact error message and check out

Microsofts own knowledeg question base, I could find error code 630 by itself.
Last possiblity is you are within range for your infer red device and no other "BRIGHT" light sources interfering with connection ?
Hoped to have pointed you in right direction.
