error by database dll.....mdac 2.6 sp1

i'm having a problem after setting up a new server. i first installed the .net framework, then mdac 2.6, then mdac 2.6 sp1.

then i installed crystal enterprise 8. i'm getting an error trying to use the activex control to view any report from internet explorer. it says "error detected by database dll." any suggestions? it works fine on a nearly idential server without mdac 2.6 sp1. is there a problem with sp1, and if so does anyone know how to get rid of it without an ugly rollback.

it looks like i might have to rollback, but there's all kinds of cautions on ms's website about how i might mess up other applications.

This error can be caused by a lot of items. I would first verify that you can run the report directly from the server before going any farther. If the report runs fine, then look at the server. I am looking at this exact problem today. All my reports have run fine, until today I placed some new oracle 9i based reports... now I too get this message.

thanks...i got a work-around...i installed sql 7 client connectivity and somehow it must have updated the odbc drivers, because now it works.
