Anyone seen this error in iNotes (browser-based client for R5) or better yet know how to fix it?

"The body of this message is encrypted and can not be opened by a browser. Please reopen this message with a Notes client."

That is the iNotes user will see in the TEXT portion of the message. The Address, date/time and subject lines are good.

This only happens when one user sends email and not all the time; but very frequently. As far as I can tell, this user is the same as the other desktop clients here.

This is very simple: the sender of the message encrypted the message.
Encrypted messages can only be viewed by a Notes Client.

Check with the sender of the message and make sure they disable encryption when sending to iNotes users.
It is possible that the sender has enabled encryption for all messages by default and forgot about it.

On the other hand: if ALL of the messages in the user his mailbox can not be opened then the maildatabase is encrypting all incoming messages. You can change this setting in the Person document on the server, or using the preferences in the Notes client.

Hope this helps!

I thought it was the sender, at first, and I made sure encryption was turned off. Odd thing is that this error seems to only happen to iNotes (web client version) users - desktop client users don't get the error.

That is because a Notes client can view encrypted messages but a browser not....

Messages that are already encrypted you can not change anymore. You will never be able to open them using iNotes even if you turn encryption of.

Turn of encryption with sender AND receiver and then send a NEW message and see if you can open it with iNotes. You will see that it works.
