One small text block in my file keeps generating a Bad Record Index and shutting down PM everytime I go to edit or move it. The rest of the file seems fine. Any help appreciated!

Can you totally delete the text block and start fresh. Or copy/paste each page of the document into a new document (this is preferable).
This sounds suspicioulsly like a font issue.. what font is in that text block? Are you using a font manager such as Adobe ATM Deluxe 4.1 (not the lite vs). If so, have you tested to see that the font is not corrupt? Maybe removing the font from your system and reinstalling from the source disk will help.
Also, make sure that you have no more than 100 - 150 fonts active at any time. Too many fonts will slow your system down, and can cause a myriad of problems. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
