Hi everybody. I know that this question has been posted before, but I have already tried everything that Symantec's worthless tech support has told me and they still haven't gotten back with me.
I was running Norton 2006 on my computer. It was a fresh install and working fine for about a month. Then, I started getting some kind of LU error when trying to update the program. So I uninstalled and reinstalled. Same problem. I attempted another uninstall and everything was frozen. I couldn't uninstall anything either. So I ended up going into the registry and deleting Symantec files manually. I ultimately ended up wiping my HD and reinstalling XP from scratch.
Now, However, when I try to install the program, it seems to be working fine until the loading bar reaches almost the end. Then, I get an error 9999,171 and the back goes back to the beginning. I have run the Norton Removal Utility several times. All of the registry keys have full permissions to my account, which is a local administrator. Norton's support desk even suggested that I create a new admin account and try again. This has not worked either. I paid 20 bucks for this freaking program and I'd like to get it working again. Does anybody have any suggestions?
