Hi,

I have a local SQLBase 9.0 database (with PTF2) running at one site which needs to communicate with a remote SQLBase 8.5 database (with PTF4).

An application is launched which connects to the local database. It also connects to the remote database. It does not require constant communication with the remote database and may leave the connection unused for over an hour. When this happens we get error 9024 and the locally running application fails to complete.

If I connect to the remote database with SQLTalk and leave the connection for an hour or so I get the same 9024 error.

If I connect using SQLConsole I can leave it running for days without auto-refresh on and it does not error.

My network guys assure me that the network will not close any sessions and that the SQLBase server must be to blame.

This is the same issue as thread854-1266963 but there is no solution given there.

Does anyone know whether a remote SQLBase server would detect a lack of traffic on a connection and shut it down? And, more importantly, is there any way to stop this behaviour?

I can provide sql.ini files and database settings if they will be of use.

Thanks,
Keith Rowan
