I created a document in Pagemaker 6.5 in 2001, pasting Microsoft Excel files into the document and also incorporating Pagemaker tables. However, I now come to the document again and all the Pagemaker tables and Excel files are "greyed" out and when I double click the error message: Cannot use OLE Object (8913:6812) appears. The document is also 3 times larger than it was originally!

Can anybody help, please?
Thanks.

Are those Excel files still available on the drive that the PM doc is on? If PM is looking for that linked object and can't find it (because it is no longer there) then you will have problems.

From the Help file: Object linking and embedding (OLE) is a way to update an imported object when the object’s original file is modified.

It is usually not advised to use the OLE method for PM anyway (even though it exists). Better to make a PDF of your Excel file and bring that in via file>place.

Have a look over on the Adobe User-to-user forum for Windows PM FAQs for more info on this.
