Good Morning all,

I have one user on a notebook computer (Dell Insperion 5000 W98se, 128mb Ram, 3Com Nic, Novell Client 32 3.1) who has been receiving an 8100 error and then an 8102, when selecting an E-mail to view. The problem is of course intermittent. The user had remote setup that we have since erased.

GroupWise 5.5ep on a NW 5.1 Server

After getting these errors I run GWCHECK During my last run here are the only two types of errors I received

8182 LIN_RECORD check
Problem 16- LIN_ATTACHMENT 8178 not found for msg db rec 8182
- adding dummy attachment
- Record 8178 updated successfully
Problem 16- LIN_ATTACHMENT 8179 not found for msg db rec 8182
- adding dummy attachment
- Record 8179 updated successfully
Problem 16- LIN_ATTACHMENT 8180 not found for msg db rec 8182
- adding dummy attachment
- Record 8180 updated successfully
Problem 16- LIN_ATTACHMENT 8181 not found for msg db rec 8182
- this record represented a distribution list- can't recreate

2365 Execution record check
Problem 67- Outdated execution record, created on Apr 2, 2001
- Item 2365 deleted successfully

To date I have tried the following

Changed NIC on the Notebook
Re-installed GW Client
Re-Installed NW Client
Changed from TCP/IP to UNC mode to access the PO
I've even had a new Cat5 run installed in these users office

Once the problem appears, one re-boot or two will clear up GW and then the user can access all messages.

To date it's only happening on one users workstation.

As anyone seen anything like this, or give me an idea of were to check next ?

I've had this error a couple of times and it was the archive not the mailbox that had a problem. Check to make sure the path to archive is correct. Run gwcheck against the archive.
