I have two networks
1= 192.168.0.1 This is Win2k terminal server
sub 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.0.254

2=192.168.1.2 This is W2k pro running TS session
sub 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.254

I can get the 192.168.1.2 machine to run a ts session back to my server but I have a dos app that needs the clients drive and printers mapped.
When I use a net use statement or try in my network places it comes back with the error 53. I am using Lmhosts to resolve the names and pinging works by name or ip address I just need to be able to map back drives.

The client just logs in locally to itself no domain is involved. Once logged in it clicks on TS icon and it logged into the TS. From there I need to map back to client but I have had no luck. What could I be missing. I have NetBios over TCP/IP checked also. Taking any ideas

If the net view command fails with a "System error 53 has occurred" message, the computer running Windows 2000 is not running the File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks service. Route once; switch many

It is running the service because on the local lan I can map back to the 192.168.1.2 machine. Any other ideas of what it might be?

I`ve had similar. I `m not so sure but it may have something to do with netbios/master browser. However in your setup, do you have a router at 192.168.1.254 ? Otherwise they are on different subnets, and your router may not be forwarding netbios name requests.

Yes I have a Linux box on both locations that act as the router. Their ip's are 192.168.0.254 and 192.168.1.254
I agree that they are not forwarding the netbios requests but I don't know how to do this on Linux as these boxes were put in by an outside party that is not helping out. They told me that the Linux boxes are supposed to drop those requests. Any other ideas?

i am getting a message Network path not found. When I ping the machnie by the ip address I get the reply but when I ping wiht the machine name I don't get any reply.
