Error 52 - bad file name or number

I have just come across this error - but can't understand why it has occurred. In fact when I mess with file names I can't even replicate the error - it is occurring on a client machine (NT) when they try to save a simple text file on their C drive. It does not happen when the application is run either straight from code or as an exe here at work.

Any Ideas?
