I've been trying to restore the private information store for some time now. Our environment is Exchange 5.5, SP3 and we've got Backup Exec V 7.3 with the Exchange Add-on. I've done a restore of the Information Stores (public and private) to a test server and this worked well. After checking DB versions the restore went well. At this point I can start the System Attendent and the Directory Service but whenever I attempt to start the Information store I get an error 4105. Nothing much more in the event logs excluding the information that the service died with service specific error 4105. Has anyone seen this? Is there something I'm missing?

After restoring from a backup you need to use the isinteg utility. It is in the Exchsrvr directory. I used it with the -patch extension and repaired my conflict. I have also used the eseutil utility with equal success.

Good luck

I've tried a Isinteg and it gives me a no DS_E COMMUNICATIONS Problem (because I can't start the Private IS)

DS_E COMMUNICATIONS is caused when u stop the Exchange Directory service... make sure only the Information Store service is stop in order to run isinteg -patch
