Hi guys,

Have tried searching online for this - but found no where that coul fix what has happened.

Basically as of today i cannot login/connect to SQL SVR instance that is installed on my local machine for dev work.

I use Windows Authentication to connect. Worked fine yesterday but, as of this morning can't get in.

error message i get is below....

Code:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)

any help greatly appreciated - cheers guys.

Can you post your connection string?

MCP SQL Server 2000, MCTS SQL Server 2005, MCTS SQL Server 2008 (DBD, DBA)

What version do you have of SQL Server? Could it be an evaluation version that has expired?

-SQLBill

cheers for replies guys - i have managed to get in.

went into control panel > administrive tools > services

and started SQL SVR services from there - changed the logon to 'local system account'... and it worked.

No idea what caused it though... unless...

does changing your windows password effect the logon?
(there is a 30 day policy set up on windows passwords at my work)

Cheers guys
