Has anyone seen this happen? I have had Arcserve 6.61 Workgroup Edition for NT running for months with no problem. I recently moved arcserve to a new machine, same old tape drive etc. The new machine was shipped to me with SP5. A couple weeks ago I loaded SP6a, and that night the backup returned lots of error 3406, unable to read file, operation aborted. The event log shows lots of error 3013, which are redirector errors. The event log on the server it was trying to back up shows lots of logging in and out by the backup computer.

Last night, I rolled back to SP5 to see if the backup would continue to work, but I am still getting the same results. Any suggestions? The network card, cable, hub, etc. are not the issue - I have tested all this stuff out, and the backup was working fine until just a couple weeks ago.

I have them - the files aren't open anyway. This backup runs at night when our office is closed. [sig][/sig]

Have you applied ArcServeIT Service Pack 2a?

Try a quick test. Create a backup of a file that drills down 3-4 layers of folders on the problem server. See if you get the same errors. Also, you might try recreating the backup job from scratch. I've seen that fix some weird backup problems.

Good luck.

I had already applied SP2a. Now I've reinstalled Arcserve from scratch, created a new backup job - same errors.

I tweaked the settings on my NIC, ran a test backup that went several layers deep - no errors.

Tonight I'm going to back up all the usual stuff, but I've divided the backup into several different jobs (you never know).

One odd thing I've noticed is that underneath the NT DIagnostics Network tab it shows 5 users logged in - all my administrative login.

I can't get rid of this, and I haven't seen this before. [sig][/sig]

Have you resolved this issue? We are experiencing the same problem, and have tried just about everything that you seemed to have tried. Just looking for the final solution.

Thanks
Mark
