I'm trying to compact a database that resides on a server, and although I am the default admin, I get error #3112 re: no read permission for the database.

I'm attempting to start a new, clean database, so I can just copy everything over. I pulled the database off of the server to my unit, and I still get the same message when trying to compact. When I attempt to copy one of the tables, I get error #3197, that another user is trying to make changes to the same record. Clearly, there are no other users logged on.

I implemented a shortcut icon that specifies a particular .mdw file for security when multiple users are accessing the database on the server, so if I open the database without it, I should be logging in as the default admin.

I'm incredibly frustrated with this issue, so I would appreciate any assistance anyone might offer.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi there,

Just a while ago we had this same problem on our network. After numerous hours of searching, we turned of our virusscan (i.e. f-secure). this turned out to be the problem. Meanwhile we received an update and the problem has been solved.

Hope your problem is the same, 'cause then the solution will be an easy one !
